The mental health crisis in America isn't just growing—it's exploding. Nearly 60 million adults—that's 1 in 4 Americans—experienced mental illness in the past year alone. Behind this staggering number are real people struggling in silence, often without the support they desperately need.
Even more alarming, 13 million Americans had serious thoughts of suicide, and 2022 saw the highest number of suicide deaths in U.S. history. This isn't just a statistic—it's a national emergency.
Mental health crises now account for over 60 million visits to primary care and 6 million emergency room visits annually. In fact, out of every 100,000 emergency department visits, more than 5,000 are related to mental health as of March 2025.
The burden falls especially hard on our youth, with 1 in 6 experiencing a major depressive episode and a 31% increase in mental health-related emergency department visits.
These aren't just numbers—they're our friends, family members, coworkers, and neighbors. And they're suffering right now.
The time for silence is over. The time for stigma is over. The time for waiting is over.
Mental health is not a luxury—it's essential. And talking about it isn't optional—it's vital.
Join us at Awareness Attire in breaking the silence, starting conversations, and showing those who struggle that they are not alone. Because your story isn't over yet, and together, we can rise from the darkness.
